Pet-friendly accommodation in Dalmatia

Pet-friendly accommodation in Dalmatia

What is a ‘pet’? An animal looked upon as a friend, companion, guard, at least by its owner. Simple illustration that says it all - pets are never referred to as ‘it’ by its owners, but rather ‘he’ or ‘she’ depending on their gender. Because they really are a member of the family they live with and as such it becomes increasingly difficult not to take them along on holiday.

Even though renouncing holiday is out of the question, travelling with a four-legged friend is not as straightforward as it may seem. In other words, there are a few issues to consider starting from the choice of accommodation, since not every person is a dog (or a cat, or any other pet) person, and neither are holiday establishments.

Good to know

First and foremost, a pet is a traveller in a vehicle which means that it needs to have identification documents just as its owner does. Concretely, a pet without a passport, microchip and rabies vaccination won’t be allowed to enter Croatia. Also, every first-time traveller with a pet should test its car ride endurance, particularly if the trip includes covering long distances. It is important to plan breaks and snacks, and to be prepared for any foreseeable situation.

Pet-friendly Dalmatia

Just as in other parts of the Adriatic seaside and Croatia in general, there are establishments in Dalmatia which are presented as pet-friendly. When looking for that kind of accommodation in Dalmatia, these are a good way to start. Still, if abundant information isn’t given about what exactly a ‘pet-friendly’ feature refers to, it’s crucial to learn more about it . After all, your Rottweiler might be the dearest of the dear pets to you, but if it’s on a list of potentially dangerous breeds, your chosen holiday facility won’t allow you to bring it along. It is also good idea to check the surroundings, beach access and restaurant policies in the vicinity. Needless to say, self-catering facilities tend to be a far better option when compared to hotels, due to more space and privacy. In fact, campsites, apartments or mobile homes with excellent amenities, including pet-friendly zones are the perfect choice for such a holiday in Dalmatia.

Welcoming pets at Zaton Holiday Resort

Zaton Holiday Resort is without a shadow of a doubt one of the best options for a holiday in Dalmatia with pets. Surrounded by lovely nature, it’s hard to imagine a pet that wouldn’t enjoy such a change of scenery. In addition, there are pet-designated zones that allow them to run around freely and to have a swim as well. Food supply is no issue either, since there is a supermarket at the resort.

Lucky dog

As a best friend and/or a member of the family, it’s simply heart-breaking to leave a pet behind when heading on a holiday. Kennels and dog-sitters may be an option, but sharing a holiday all together is so much more rewarding. And remember, if the accommodation facility of your choice welcomes your lovely pet as well, that tells you a lot about the kind of treatment you can expect for yourself.
